Project vs. Program

In an Organization where there are multiple interrelated projects and stakeholders involved, it creates an ambiguity in handling these projects and hence leads to complex issues. However, a Project is different from a Program and so also the terms Project Management and Program Management.

Projects focus on outputs to deliver as a single unit whereas Programs focus on the Outcomes. The orientation of a Project is more towards the timely delivery, bounding to the estimated budget and providing right value to the end-user. Whereas, a Program’s focus is to deliver long term benefits not just by confining to the stakeholders but also to the entire organization.
